My first short film. I will propably make more similar short films so if there is anything you think I can improve, do post a comment.

Everything went really smoothly, but there could have been more things happening (it was kind of continuous).

Where I don't agree with Olli was that the music (in my opinion) didn't suit what was happening. If someone was chasing you or this was not a short vid and you had an actual character - with an implied personality - the music would have been better for the situation.

Nice one! Lame idea but still so good. I somehow disagree with Olli about the credits. The you did it this time and in the nuclear afterblaablaa film is better suited for these kind of artistical films than the old *text scrolling down with techno music* you usually use.

Olli, the only thing that fails at the moment is that nobody has posted about your Maiden vid.

Actual character as if "not just some random hobo". Implied meaning indicated.

God, some people never fail to astonish me. Officially adult and in the best IB school in Finland and still some completely regular words escape him.

You're like big "little" kids, Olli and Ilkka. :D

I agree with Olli, how, exactly does one manage to be an actual character with an implied personality? I mean, wouldn't one rather be an actual character with a real personality, not fake or implied?

Please Ilkka note that to imply means "to indicate or suggest without being explicitly stated"; and as such doesn't make much sense in your argument.

And furthermore, I'm not quite sure how that personality within said character has anything to do with your conclusion, or whole argument for that matter, whatsoever. As far as I'm conserned, the epicness or style of music often has little to do with the depth of characters' personalities in short movies.

Also, I'd like to point out that the character in Jonttu's short movie was an "actual character". Within the confines of the video, we gathered all the information we could from just observing him. He didn't speak, but he showed emotion, and he was an integral part of the movie. Without him, it wouldn't have been very interesting, now would it?

@Jonttu: Nice movie, I liked it. Although there is one part where you leave the door open, only for it to close itseft just a few seconds later, but other than that, 'twas brillig.

@Tony: Clearly you don't see what I tried to explain.
I feel that just some random guy running around in endless circles is entertaining, but exciting music like in the film is not that well suited for it.

(Olli, is it like you to be so sudden and efficient in starting epic verbal struggles on a blog's message board?)

Nice that such a spontaneous video got so much praise. :)

The idea actually popped up as I remembered one of those classic Scooby Doo style scenes where there is a corridoor with lots of doors and the characters run of of other doors that they ran into.

Argh. I wouldn't have done it without those meddling kids!

JONTTUU!! You need to make it so there is a monster running as well!!

ilkka said...

That's what I've been saying all the time. But why not make it a Battlefield Heroes CARTOON TANK??!!?

Johannes said...

I guess someone could run after me and hold a cardboard monster to the camera. Would look quite crap though. :D

Just use some crappy mask.

And with the magic of editing, you could be yourself and the monster.
